Description

StandardFartoj MK II is new class of patrol vessels ordered by the Danish Navy to replace its 40 years old Barso-class patrol boats which were commissioned between 1969 and 1973. The Danish Naval Material Command awarded the procurement contract for six vessels to Faaborg Værft A/S on December 3, 2004, to be built in cooperation with Kockums of Sweden. The Danish Navy would take over the six StandardFartoj MK II vessels from January 2007 through April 2008. StandardFartoj MK II vessels are built using a hull in sandwich layout made up of Fibre-Reinforced Plastic (FRP). Kockums is responsible for hull construction and propulsion system integration in Sweden while Faaborg Værft A/S completes the vessel fitting out in Denmark.
