Description

The single-seat F-15C Eagle entered the US Air Force inventory beginning in 1979 and deliveries continued until the late 1980s. The C model has additional internal fuel, provision for carrying external conformal fuel tanks, and increased maximum takeoff weight. The most part of F-15A operational shortfalls were solved in the C model. In addition to the United States of America, Japan, Israel and Saudi Arabia are the only foreign operators of the combat-proven F-15C Eagle, F-15J designation for Japanese Eagles. The US Air Force F-15C/D aircraft are equipped with APG-63 and APG-70 radars. The APG-63(V)1, APG-63(V)2 and APG-63(V)3 upgraded radars were provided to over a hundred aircraft in the 2000s as part of a modernization effort. The entire US Air Force F-15C/D fleet is slated for retirement in the 2020-2025 timeframe or earlier depending on the defense budget cuts.
