Description

The Next Generation Aerial Refueling System (NGAS) is a US Air Force program aimed at supporting the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) systems. The NGAS primary goal is to refuel NGAD air assets in combat zones. The NGAS may feature enhanced survivability compared with current KC-46 air tankers. A major decision related to the NGAS program is anticipated by 2026. The new tanker aircraft based upon a new non-commercial design may enter service in the 2045-2060 timeframe.
