Description

The LP-23SST-NG, which stands for "Long Porteur" (long-range carrier) with a 23 cm wavelength and Solid-State Transmitter, New Generation, is an L-band long-range surveillance radar designed for en-route air traffic management. Operating within the 1250 to 1350 MHz frequency range, it offers an instrumented range of 250 nautical miles (approximately 460 km) with a range resolution of 140 meters. This air defense radar, manufactured by Omnisys, is a further development of the LP-23 from Thomson-CSF, featuring an accuracy of 50 meters and 0.2 degrees, a beamwidth of 1.25 degrees, and an antenna rotation speed of 5 or 6 revolutions per minute. It boasts a mean time between critical failures (MTBCF) of 34,000 hours and a mean time to repair (MTTR) of 30 minutes.
