Mi-8MTPR1
Mi-8MTPR1
The Mi-8MTPR1 is a variant of the Mi-8MTV5-1/Mi-17V-5 transport helicopter equipped with the Richag-AV radar and sonar jamming system. The purpose of the Mi-8MTPR1 is to protect aircraft, helicopters, drones, ground and naval forces against air defenses and air-to-air missiles from distances of several hundred kilometers away. The Mi-8MTPR1's Richag-AV blinds any radiofrequency-based weapon system. In a combat situation, the helicopter will operate as part of an aviation shock group aimed at breaking through any defense system, blinding everything including the Patriot air defense system. The Russian Armed Forces ordered 18 Mi-8MTPR1 helicopters worth 11.5 billion Rubles and to be delivered through October 2016. The first batch of three helicopters was delivered on March 4, 2015.
