Description

The Iguana French Tracked Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) is a modular, mid-weight unmanned ground vehicle developed by Exail (formerly ECA Group), a French robotics and automation systems manufacturer with over 80 years of heritage in robotics. The system represents the latest generation in Exail's EOD/IEDD platform family, which also includes the lighter Cameleon series (LG and MK3 variants) and the tactical Cobra series. The platform features four independent motorized flippers for enhanced mobility across irregular terrain, mud, sand, and stairs. Its modular architecture with IP65 waterproof construction enables deployment in harsh climatic conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, and fog.

Command & Control System The Iguana integrates an 11.6-inch full HD ruggedized touchscreen operator control unit (OCU) with: Smartphone-inspired drag-and-drop interface for customizable display configuration; 3D active model visualization of robot position and arm configuration; Video recording capability with USB/Ethernet outputs; Multi-axis joystick control (4 independent units); Hands-free harness integration; GPS localization and mapping (Geotiff format). Interoperability: The OCU is cross-compatible with Exail's Cameleon MK3, enabling single-operator control of multiple platform types.
Payload Capacity 40 kg
Manipulator Arm & Payload Capabilities The Iguana mounts a 6-axis robotic arm with the following performance envelope: Vertical Reach: Up to 2.2 meters (enabling inspection of aircraft overhead lockers and vessels); Horizontal Reach: Up to 1.2 meters; Lifting Capability: 15 kg standard / 19 kg with restrictions; Gripper Aperture: 0-9 cm / 6-15 cm (multiple configurations); Gripper Rotation: 360° continuous without limit; Turret Rotation: ±185°. The arm integrates 4 standard cameras with white and near-infrared LED lighting, expandable to 6 total cameras. Critically, the system supports simultaneous deployment of two water disruptors for multi-threat neutralization within a single mission cycle, reducing operational time.
Sensor & Mission Module The Iguana accommodates modular plug-and-play mission payloads, including: X-ray Systems: For package/luggage content determination; CBRN Sensors: AP4C, HDS101, XAM7000 multi-gas detectors (up to five simultaneous gases); Pan & Tilt Zoom Cameras: Up to 120× magnification; Disruptor Water Cannons: For explosive ordnance neutralization (standard configuration: 2 mounting points); Thermal Imaging: Optional infrared capability; Laser Telemeter: 25-meter range measurement; Fiber Optic Transmission: Expandable to 1,000 meters (standard fiber reel: 300 meters). All mission modules feature hot-swap capability, enabling rapid reconfiguration in-theatre without vehicle shutdown.
