Description
The Laguna-M («Лагуна-М») is a deployable, bistatic over-the-horizon surface wave (OTH-SW) radar that operates in the high-frequency (HF) band (3-30 MHz). Developed in 2019 from the stationary 5P21 “Podsolnukh” radar, it features a large transmitting antenna and a smaller receiving antenna array. With an instrumented range of 200 km, the Laguna-M is designed exclusively for civilian applications, such as combating smuggling, drug trafficking, and poaching, by monitoring surface vessels. It is intended for deployment in the Black Sea, where it can monitor shipping traffic from the Russian coast to the Bosporus, but it cannot detect aircraft.
