CV90 Armadillo
CV90 Armadillo
The CV90 Armadillo is an armored personnel carrier variant lacking the turret of previous models and combining high levels of protection with excellent mobility. Its modular design includes a rear roof section which can be unbolted to allow simple changeover between different mission packages. The vehicle's crew consists of commander, driver and gunner plus eight dismounted troops. CV90 Armadillo has horizontal ballistic protection well above the NATO STANAG 4569 Level 5 standard and can withstand a mine blast of significantly above 10kg. It also features the Saab LEDS-150 hard kill device and an external fire suppression system. BAE Systems plans for the development of several new CV90 variants based upon Armadillo: command and control, medevac, mortar carrier, engineer vehicle, bridge layer and additional enhanced protection vehicle. The CV90 Armadillo was displayed for the first time at the Eurosatory exhibition in June 2010.
