Description

The IRIS-T Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD) is a family of mobile surface-to-air missile systems based on a variety of IRIS-T interceptors and radar systems. The IRIS-T GBAD includes short-range and medium-range missile systems mounted on wheeled and tracked platforms. The first system entered service along the Armed Forces of Sweden in late 2019. This new missile system was being offered by Diehl BGT Defence for export customers since early 2011. In March 2013 Sweden ordered the new air defense system with first deliveries planned for 2016. Sweden took delivery of the first IRIS-T missile system, known as EldE 98, in September 2019.
