The Long March 2F or CZ-2F is a the current launch vehicle for the Chinese manned space flight program and is also designed to place heavy payloads into orbit. Its design is based partially on the CZ-2E rocket but with improved reliability which was the main issue of its predecessor. The two-stage, liquid propellant rocket is fitted with four strap-on boosters and is capable of lifting off a payload of 8,000 kg into LEO. The first launch of the CZ-2F rocket was carried out in November 1999 and is the carrier of the ShenZhou manned space exploration module. The CZ-2G and CZ-2H rockets are an evolution of the CZ-2F launch vehicle with a heavier payload capacity to support manned and unmanned space flights after 2010 such as ShenZhou spacecraft or Tiangong-1 space station module.
