KSLV-2
KSLV-2
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) KSLV-2 is a liquid fuel, three-stage space launch system developed as a replacement for the KSLV-1 and intended to put payloads into orbit beginning in 2017. KARI is funding a $1.3 billion program which will make use of new technology to surpass the deficiencies of the KSLV-1 research rocket. The two-stage KLSV-1 rocket carrying a 100 kg payload failed to deliver it into orbit after launch on August 25, 2009. The KSLV-1 was developed with the assistance from Russia's Khrunichev Space Research and Production Center while KSLV-2 will be based on new technology from South Korea. KSLV-2 rockets will be launched from the Korean Space Center on the island of Naro carrying payloads of up to 1,000 kg.
