Description
The Sky-X is a technology demonstrator for a multi-role Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) developed by Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica company. The scope of this program is to develop a platform suitable for ground observation, surveillance and reconnaissance for both civil and security customers. The Sky-X performed its maiden flight on 29 May 2005 at Vidsel in Sweden. The Sky-X can carry a payload of up to 200 kg cruising at 260 knots (480 kph) at high altitudes (10,000+ meters). Its aerodynamic performance is similar to a fighter jet.
