BrahMos-2
BrahMos-2

The BrahMos-2 is a follow-on hypersonic cruise missile derived from the BrahMos anti-ship missile. The Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military-technical cooperation agreed on its development on September 29, 2008. The new missile will feature a top speed of over Mach 5 or Mach 7, compared to Mach 2.8 on BrahMos, which will make unstoppable by any existing or projected air defense system. The BrahMos-2 hypersonic missile would be designed to kill AEGIS and its European counterparts including future enhanced versions. The missile is expected to be developed in two phases with different speed profiles March 4-5 between 2024 and 2025 and March 6-7 between 2026 and 2027. The new hypersonic missile is expected to be fielded by 2028. As of early 2023, the project was almost canceled due to the lack of interest from Russia and/or India.
