Description
The Expeditionary Medical Ship (EMS) is a new ship class designed and built by Austal USA and expected to support medical evacuation during landing operations. The EMS vessel is a derivative of the Expeditionary Fast Transport vessel. The US Navy awarded a $868 million contract to Austal USA in December 2023 for the design and construction of three vessels to be delivered by 2030.
