Description
The Laser Sword is a high energy laser weapon system being developed by Rafael and Elta Systems to counter-rocket, artillery and mortar (C-RAM) fire replacing the Iron Dome missile system. The Laser Sword is expected to be more effective than the missile approach as well as cheaper. The Israeli Armed Forces (IAF) announced the development of the new high energy weapon in January 2020 and is expected to be fielded in late 2021.
