Description

The Batiments de Soutien et d’Assistance Hauturiers or Offshore Support and Assistance Multipurpose Vessel (BSAH) is a versatile ship designed to perform long endurance operations in Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ) waters. The BSAH can conduct pollution response, logistics support, assistance and search and rescue (SAR) missions. Besides, the military can use this ship to conduct special operations, surveillance and law enforcement missions at sea. The French Navy ordered two BSAH vessels in August 2015 and another two ships in October 2016 to be delivered in 2018 and 2019. The 2,600-ton class BSAH vessel is equipped with a working boat and a Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB), a crane for loading and unloading containers and can accommodate divers, carry weapons and ammunitions, provide support to a submarine and operate and anti-pollution barrier.
