Description

The F/A-259 Striker is a light multirole combat aircraft developed jointly by Aero Vodochody and IAI on the basis of the L-159 ALCA advanced trainer. The aircraft is intended as a cost effective strike airplane with key components such as radar, avionics and weapons to be supplied by IAI while Aero will take care of the airframe. The F/A-259 multirole fighter is intended to perform close air support (CAS), counter-insurgency operations and border patrolling with interception capabilities. The aircraft will also feature great maneuverability and long range. The F/A-259 Striker multirole fighter program was launched at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) on July 19, 2018, and is expected to become operational in the early 2020s. The jet is being actively marketed for the US Air Force OA-X requirement replacing the A-10A/C jet feet in the 2020s.
