Description

The LeFlaSys is a short range air defense system integrated on several Wiesel 2 vehicles. The system comprises the launch vehicles (5-8) called Ozelot with 4 missiles each, a radar vehicle (20 km detection range), and a support/command post vehicle. The launch vehicles can fire Stinger, Igla, Mistral or Bolide missiles. The LeFlaSys is intended to protect light armored and airborne military units against aircraft, attack missiles and helicopters as well as airfields and other installations. The LeFlaSys air defense system has been ordered by the German Army and Greece. The ASRAD (Atlas Short Range Air Defense) is LeFlaSys designation for the export market. The Stinger missile could be replaced by a more capable IRIS-T missile derivative in the near future.
