Description
The Hwasong-16 is a larger version of Hwasong-15 ICBM showcased for the first time in October 2020 during a military parade in Pyongyang. The new ICBM has a longer range and heavier payload than the Hwasong-15 missile including MIRV nukes. The massive missile system uses a 11-axis wheeled Tractor-Erector-Launcher (TEL) vehicle. The new missile is expected to be test fired for the first time in 2020 or 2021. The project was most likely canceled due to the development of the Hwasongpho-16B hypersonic weapon system.
