Description
The Reliable Replacement Warhead (RRW) is a United States Department of Energy (DoE) and Department of Defense (DoD) joint program aimed at delivering a nuclear warhead sturdy, reliable, secure from terrorists and containing fewer toxic materials. The RRW will not require underground tests because all the developmental workload will be done through computer modeling. The new more secure and reliable weapon may lead the United States to reduce its nuclear stockpile. As of mid-October 2008 the program was still focused on suitability debates in the political arena.
