Description
The Islamic Republic of Iran new solid propellant Medium Range Ballistic Missile (MRBM) is aimed at hitting targets at distances of up to 2,000-2,500 kilometers. The new missile features enhanced maneuverability to evade the US Patriot and THAAD missile defenses and the Israeli Arrow 3 and Arrow 4 interceptors. The Islamic Republic of Iran test fired the new missile for the first time in May 2025 against a surrogate target 1,200 kilometers away. Iran’s goal is fielding the new weapon system before 2030 replacing legacy missile systems.
