Description

The MALE 2020 is a next generation advanced European Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) developed jointly between Airbus Defense and Space, Dassault Aviation and Alenia Aermacchi. The Medium Altitude, Long Endurance MALE 2020 primary operators are Germany, France and Italy and other European countries could join the program. The definition phase is planned for 2014 with the entire solution ready for 2020. The cost efficient UAS MALE 2020 was proposed during the Paris Airshow in June 2013. The MALE RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) program was launched in September 2016. The development phase is expected to start in 2018 with the maiden flight expected in 2023 and entry into service in 2025. France, Germany, Italy and Spain ordered 20 Eurodrone systems on February 24, 2022. France withdrew from the program in October 2025.
