Description

The S-25 is a 340mm heavyweight air launched rocket developed by the former Soviet Union in the 1980s and utilized for the first time during the war in Chechnya in the 1990s. The rocket has a maximum range of 3-4 kilometers flying at supersonic speed. A single rocket carries a 190 kilogram warhead. The S-25OF variant is fitted with a high explosive (HE) fragmentation warhead, the S-25O is fitted with a fragmentation warhead with radio proximity fuze, the S-25OFM is intended to penetrate hardened targets such as bunker and buried fortification and the S-25L is laser-guided variant. The S-25 rocket has been designed to be launched from Su-25, Su-27, Su-30, Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft using the O-25 rocket launcher which carries one S-25.
