Description
The Bata is a 2,500-ton class frigate built by MTG Dolphin in Bulgaria for the Navy of Equatorial Guinea with technical assistance from Ukraine. The ship is equipped with flight deck for two Ka-29 assault helicopters. Besides, the ship is armed with a 76mm naval gun and two 30mm automatic guns (AK-630?) to provide fire support in the littoral environment. The primary mission of this ship is to serve as a troops transport vessel to intervene throughout Equatorial Guinea territory. The Bata was delivered to the Navy of Equatorial Guinea officially in January 2012 and became its flagship homeported at Malabo Naval Base.
