Description
The C28A is a new class of frigate designed and built in China for the export market. The ship leverages the Type 054A design but is less capable in terms of weaponry. The C28A frigate, also referred to as corvette, is equipped with a 76mm PJ-26 naval gun, eight C-802 anti-ship missiles, eight FM-90N short-range surface-to-air missiles, two 30mm Type 730 close-in weapon systems and two triple 324mm torpedo tubes. Besides, these vessels are equipped with a flight deck and hangar for operation of one one ASW helicopter such as the AgustaWestland Super Lynx. The Algerian Navy ordered three C28A class frigates to be commissioned in 2015.
