Description
The Project 210 or Project 10831 Losharik is a deep-diving nuclear-powered submarine originally developed by the former Soviet Union is intended to carry special operations at the bottom of the Oceans. The ship may be able to tap and/or sever underwater communications cables at the bottom of the sea which poses a serious threat to Western powers. Besides, the boat is also suitable for research and rescue missions. The Losharik submarine is capable of depths of up to 2,500 meters. The ship was launched in 2003 and suffered a grave accident in July 2019 killing the crew. The Losharik submarine is expected to return to the active server by 2025 operating from the Belgorod nuclear submarine.
