Description

The Leclerc is a state-of-the-art main battle tank designed to meet French Army's demanding requirements for a high mobile, day and night combat ready, high firepower moving or stationary, all-weather, and high maneuverable armored vehicle. The Leclerc only has a crew of 3-man (gunner, driver and commander) due to the 120mm F1 gun automatic loading system. In addition, the FINDERS combat management and aids system allows continuous update of situational awareness and vehicle mechanical diagnosis. The advanced characteristics of the Leclerc battle tank will make possible to the French armored units to defeat current battle tanks even if they outnumbered. The Leclerc is armed with a stabilized, smooth bore, automatic feed 120mm 52-caliber F1 gun, one coaxial 12.7mm machine gun, and one 7.62mm machine gun. The modular armor, the capability to shoot stationary or moving at 50 km/h, the FINDERS system, the GALIX (18) protection system and the commander's independent thermal camera, stealthy design, make Leclerc a fearsome opponent. The Leclerc battle tank is in operational service with the French Army and has been ordered by the United Arab Emirates. UAE's Leclerc are powered by a turbo-diesel MTU 883 V12 engine with a RENK HSWL 295 TM transmission. The commander's thermal sight is the HL80 instead of the HL70 of French Leclerc. There are other minor differences between Leclercs operated by France and the UAE, but performance remains exactly the same.
