Description
The Common Heavy Weight Torpedo (CHWT) is a new 533mm torpedo developed to surpass the combat performance of the DM2A4 torpedo. The CHWT will be equipped with a silent electric motor, passive sonar seeker and fiber-optic control. The new torpedo will deliver increased range and an improved warhead. The German and Royal Norwegian navies are expected to field the CHWT by 2030 onboard the new U212CD submarines.
