Description
The WR-40 Langusta is a modern Polish 122mm Multiple Rocket Launcher (MRL) that represents a significant upgrade from the Soviet BM-21 Grad. This modernization aims to provide Poland with a more mobile, better-protected, and digitally networked rocket artillery system. **Mission:** The WR-40 is designed for long-range area fire against enemy troop concentrations, firing positions, light vehicles, support facilities, and field fortifications. It operates as part of a digitally controlled artillery battalion. A battery of WR-40 launchers can quickly saturate large target areas and then relocate using a "shoot-and-scoot" strategy to avoid counter-battery fire.

Communications
1 x RRC‑9311AP VHF radio for tactical communications. 1 x FONET digital intercom inside the vehicle. With these systems, WR‑40 supports rapid “shoot‑and‑scoot” tactics and is tied into drones, reconnaissance units, and command posts for fast sensor‑to‑shooter loops.
Organization & Support Elements
A WR‑40 Langusta artillery battalion is more than just launch vehicles. It typically includes: WR‑40 MLRS launchers (multiple batteries); Automated command and fire‑control system elements; Command‑staff vehicles and command & reconnaissance vehicles; Weather station for ballistic corrections; Logistic vehicles: ammunition carriers, maintenance and repair workshops, and other support trucks.
