AMV 8x8

The AMV 8x8 (Armored Modular Vehicle) is a medium-weight, wheeled, modular vehicle designed to carry out a wide range of missions related to mechanized units. The vehicle features excellent on/off road mobility with low life cycle costs due to parts commonality, while offers high protection against ballistic threats and land mines. Its weight varies between 14 and 24 tons depending on the selected configuration. The AMVs are powered by a single Scania Diesel engine DI 12 rated at 480-hp, nevertheless other engines can be negotiated. Reduced signatures and add-on armor are the keys of the vehicle's survivability. They feature ballistic protection against up to 30mm rounds. These vehicles are enabled to integrate guns ranging 7.62mm up to 105mm, and 120mm mortar (AMOS). The first AMV 8x8 vehicles was declared operational with the Finnish Army in 2004. The AMV 8x8 high modularity has made possible three models of the AMV vehicle: basic model, system platform and module carrier. The AMV basic model includes APC, IFV, C2, ambulance, reconnaissance, AMOS, FCV, ATGM and MGS. The AMV SP (System Platform) features a larger and higher rear compartment which allows to work inside the vehicle. The AMV SP is suitable for C3, large ambulance and workshop. The AMV MC (Module Carrier) mounts on the same AMV chassis ready containers/modules containing weapons or other logistic payloads. In late August 2005, Patria showed up for the first time the 6x6 version of the AMV wheeled vehicle during MSPO Exhibition in Poland.
