ZBD05
ZBD05

The ZBD05, formerly known as the ZBD2000, is an armored amphibious assault vehicle developed to meet the requirements of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Marines. The fully-tracked ZBD05 entered service in mid-2000s with the PLA Marine Corps. Compared to Western amphibious assault vehicles, the ZBD05 has greater firepower thanks to its 105mm cannon but poor performance at sea. Externally, it looks like the US Marine Corps Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). The ZBD05 vehicle represents a significant step forward in the PLA's building up of an effective amphibious assault force capability. The Chinese Marines have developed a vehicle family based on this armored vehicle. The basic ZBD05 has been designed to be released from amphibious assault ships at more than 10 kilometers from the shore. Powered by two waterjets, these vehicles can achieve a top speed of 16 knots on water. A ZBD05 requires a crew of four-man and carries 7 to 10 fully equipped Chinese Marines.
