Iskander MZKT

The Iskander is a ground-based, mobile, tactical missile system developed to support the Russian Army land formations engaging targets at longer ranges that traditional artillery rockets. The Iskander MZKT carrier-launcher vehicle is based upon the BAZ6909 8x8 high mobility truck system capable of carrying up to two missiles. This artillery system is able to carry Iskander (9K720) and Iskander-M (9K723) tactical ballistic missiles and Iskander-K (9K728) cruise missile with a range of roughly 2,000 kilometers. In September 2017, KBM made public that at least four additional missile types have been developed for the Iskander missile system to meet the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Iskander MZKT platfrorm is expected to be modernized with a new control system and software compatible with the new missiles. The Iskander tactical missile system entered service with the Russian Army in 1998 armed with the 9K720 tactical ballistic missile.
