Description

The AN/APS-143(V), also known as OceanEye, is an X-band (9,250-9,700 MHz) airborne maritime surveillance and tracking radar designed for integration into various fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. It utilizes a traveling wave tube (TWT) transmitter, frequency agility, and pulse compression techniques, offering a peak power of 8 kW and an instrumented range of 256 nautical miles (475 km) with a range resolution of 50 meters. The system comprises an antenna, transceiver, and signal processor, with the antenna system featuring pitch-and-roll compensation. Control is managed via a dedicated panel or a central universal keyset through a MIL-STD-1553B databus, supporting features like track-while-scan, air search with platform-specific moving target indication, and integrated interfaces for electronic support measures and identification friend-or-foe systems. The AN/APS-143(V)3 variant offers enhanced small-target detection, reduced size, and includes a track-while-scan function with MIL-STD-1553B databus output to a central tactical navigation computer.
