Description

The 2S5 Giatsint-S, also known as the M-1981, is a 152mm self-propelled howitzer featuring lack of turret and a tracked chassis. It provides greater rates of fire and range than 2S3 152mm howitzer but poor mobility and armor protection. 2S5 is capable of firing both nuclear or conventional rounds. Its 2A37 cannon, which fires 46 kg rounds, has a maximum range of 28,000 meters which can reach up to 40,000 meters firing Rocket Assisted Projectiles (RAP). 2S5's 2A37 cannon is a variant of 152mm 2A36 cannon. Like 2A36, 2S5 can fire a wide range of projectiles for a variety of purposes including semi-active laser-guided Krasnopol and Krasnopol-M projectiles.
