The Airbus Helicopters H145, formerly the Eurocopter EC145 T2, is a further version of the EC145 light-medium twin-engine commercial helicopter suitable for emergency medical services (EMS), oil and gas operations and business aviation. The T2 variant offers significantly improved performance, increased flight safety, enhanced human-machine interface, improved maintainability and lower operating costs. The aircraft features Fenestron shrouded tail rotor replacing the two-blade tail rotor delivering significantly higher safety levels on the ground and in flight, along with enhanced anti-torque control efficiency, reduced power demand in forward flight, and lower sound and vibration levels. The EC145 T2 was announced at the Heli-Expo 2011 exposition in Orlando, Florida, with 17 commitments from four customers. The first customer deliveries occurred in 2014. The H145/EC145 T2 helicopter has new composite blades, a new-design tail gear box with lower maintenance costs, and incorporates a duplex tail rotor actuator and dual hydraulic circuits. The aircraft is powered by two Turbomeca Arriel 2E turboshaft engines with increased average power by 25 percent. Besides, the EC145 T2 includes a new modular avionics suite that incorporates three large primary displays and a 4-axis autopilot as standard equipment. It provides an innovative and efficient human-machine interface for flight crews, improved situational awareness and reduced pilot workload, while also offering additional mission capabilities.
