The People's Republic of China (PRC) DF-11A, also known as M-18 for the export market or CSS-7 East Wind for the Western intelligence, is a Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) intended as a replacement for Scud-sized missiles. It can be equipped with either a conventional or nuclear warhead. The M-18 ballistic missile utilizes a two-stage solid fuel propulsion system. The M-18 missiles are road-mobile through a Tractor-Erector-Launcher (TEL) vehicle. The M-18 ballistic missile range stays between 1,000 kilometers and 1,200 kilometers. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) artillery units have deployed the M-18 missiles targeting Taiwan along the Chinese coast surrounding the island.
