Description
The Tranche 2 Tracking Layer (T2 Tracking Layer) is a satellite constellation intended to detect missile launches through infrared sensors and deliver fire control missile tracking information. The Space Development Agency (SDA) awarded the T2 Tracking Layer contract to Lockheed Martin in January 2024. The $890 million contract includes 16 wide field of view missile warning satellites and 2 high definition missile tracking space vehicles all of them equipped with infrared sensors.
