The Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon (SAAW) is a lightweight glide bomb developed by India to hit fixed position targets such as enemy airfields from safe ranges in excess of 70 kilometers. The bomb uses a precision navigation system after being released from the aircraft to hit targets with high accuracy. The Indian Air Force conducted the first test campaign of the new SAAW guided bomb in October 2017. The bomb is expected to join the Indian Air Force and Navy active duty aircraft by 2022.
