Description
The Desert Sting 25 (DS-25) is a lightweight, compact precision guided munition developed for release from combat aircraft and combat drones. The Desert Sting 25 guidance system combines semi-active laser (SAL) seeker with INS/Global Positioning System (GNSS) navigation. The glide bomb has a maximum range of 22 kilometers with Circular Error Probable (CEP) of 3 meters using SAL or 10 meters using GNSS only. The DS-25 can be released from an altitude of 30,000-ft (10,000 meters) and carries a 25-kilogram warhead enough to take out any armored vehicle or field fortification. The United Arab Emirates Air Force placed order worth $1.1 billion for DS-25 bombs in February 2023.
