Description

The Cayman is a mobile armored transport vehicle developed by Belarusian firm 140 Repair Plant based upon the BRDM-2 4x4 armored vehicle. The vehicle has been designed to conduct reconnaissance, patrol, law enforcement, disaster relief and transport missions. The Cayman 4x4 features a new diesel engine mounted in the rear compartment with a new independent torsion bar suspension for enhanced mobility. Besides, this amphibious vehicle has two water jets mounted at rear of the chassis against only one on the BRDM-2 armored vehicle. The Cayman vehicle can reach a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour and has a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers. To provide fire support, the six-man crew vehicle can be equipped with a roof-mounted 14.5mm or 7.62mm machine gun or alternatively the AGS-17 30mm automatic grenade launcher. The multipurpose Cayman armored vehicle was introduced within the Armed Forces of Belarus in 2017.
