The Abu Mahdi is a supersonic cruise missile intended to engage surface ships at a distance of more than 1,000 kilometers. The new missile is named after an Iraqi commander killed along Qassem Soleimani, Al Quds Force commander, by the United States in January 2020. The Abu Madhi supersonic anti-ship missile was unveiled by the Islamic Republic of Iran along the Haj Qasem medium range ballistic missile in August 2020. The upgraded Abu Madhi missile system entered service in January 2025 adding Artificial Intelligence (AI) and dual-mode (Active/Passive) radar seeker. The missiles are deployed using commercial trucks with each carrying two missiles.
