Description
The Cheonma-2 North Korean Main Battle Tank (MBT), initially named the M2020 by foreign observers before its official designation as Cheonma-2 in 2024, is North Korea's latest main battle tank and a new heavyweight tank. It was unveiled during a military parade in Pyongyang in October 2020. The tank was initially misidentified by US media as the Russian-made T-14 Armata. It features a manned turret equipped with a 125mm gun and two anti-tank missiles placed on the right side. The Cheonma-2 may also incorporate an active protection system (APS) designed to defeat incoming anti-tank guided missiles.
