MPV

The Samsung TechWin Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) is a wheeled armored vehicle family with common chassis, power-pack, drive-line and independent suspension system. The MPV platform can accept a wide variety of weapon systems to fulfill multiple missions. Utilizing 6x6 or 8x8 drive, the MPV provides high mobility and transportability airlifted by C-130-sized aircraft. Its survivability is based on advanced armor plates providing protection against 155mm shells, 12.7mm and 7.62mm armor piercing (AP) ammunition and AP mines. The basic MPV configuration includes a remote weapon station fitted with either a 12.7mm machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher (AGL). A 7.62mm machine gun is the secondary armament for all MPV platforms. The Samsung TechWin MPV, Doosan DST Black Fox and Hyundai Rotem KW Scorpion multi-purpose wheeled armored vehicles have been designed to meet the requirements of the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA) and South Korean security forces. A RoKA decision on its new rapid deployment armored vehicle is expected before 2012.
