Description

The Rostech Corporation Super High Frequency (SHF) cannon is a state-of-the-art short range air defense system intended to take down all kind of drones, missiles and a variety of high precision weapons. The Moscow Radio Engineering Institute developed this mobile microwave irradiation weapon to kill the electronics of a variety of assets within a radius of 10 kilometers. This new weapon system is specially well suited to protect valuable objects and installations. The SHF is mounted on a Buk air defense system tracked chassis and is also intended to test Russian-made radio-electronic systems. Besides, Russia also plans to use the new weapon to engage swarm drone attacks with many targets. The SHF cannon was unveiled in the classified area at the Army-2015 exhibition in Russia June 2015.
