Description

The Aung Zeya is a multi-purpose frigate built by Myanmar Naval Dockyard for the Myanmar Navy. The ship uses weapon systems and engines provided by Russia, China, India and North Korea. The weapon system consists of a 76mm naval gun, four AK-630 close-in weapon systems, six SA-N-6 surface-to-air missile systems, eight Kumsong-3 anti-ship missiles, two RBU-1200 anti-submarine rockets and one Mi-17 helicopter. The propulsion system consists of four PA6 STC diesel engines developing 5,700KW each. Only one frigate was built with the Myanmar focusing on more advanced surface combatants. The Aung Zeya frigate was commissioned in 2010.
