Description
The AN/SPQ-9A is an X-band naval surface search radar manufactured by Lockheed Martin in the United States. Its antenna, protected by a radome, is mounted on a stabilized platform and rotates at 60 revolutions per minute. The radar employs intrapulse modulation and pulse compression, operating across five selectable frequency ranges with pulse-to-pulse frequency agility to counter jamming, fixed clutter, and sea clutter. It has an instrumented range of 20 nautical miles (37 km), a beamwidth of 1.35°, a pulse repetition frequency of 3,000 Hz, pulsewidths from 0.3 to 16 microseconds, and a peak power of 1.2 kW.
