Garibaldi
Garibaldi

The Garibaldi is a lightweight aircraft carrier designed to accommodate helicopters and AV-8B Harrier V/STOL aircraft thanks to its spacious flight deck. It can perform anti-submarine, anti-surface and land attack operations while providing command and control in support of the Italian fleet. The Garibaldi aircraft carrier entered service with the Italian Navy in 1985 becoming Italian fleet flagship. The frontal section ski-jump ramp has been provided to facilitate Harrier aircraft take off operations. The Garibaldi's weapon system consists of Teseo, Albatros missile systems, and 3 Dardo close-in weapon systems. The Teseo missile system provides additional long range anti-ship capability to the Garibaldi aircraft carrier. The Albatros short/medium range surface-to-air system (SAM) protects Garibaldi carrier against airborne threats.
