Description
The Indian Armed Forces Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) is aimed at replacing hundreds of outdated light rotary-wing aircraft within the Indian Armed Forces such as Cheetah and Chetak. The 3-ton helicopter has been designed for operations hot and high at altitudes of 5,000 meters carrying a payload of up to 400 kg. Powered by a single Ardiden-1U turboshaft engine it can reach speeds of 220 kilometers per hour and has a maximum range of 350 kilometers. The aircraft developed by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is expected to be deployed by the end of 2020. The LUH achieved intiial operational capability on February 5, 2021.
