Description

The SPIKE-LR, also known as Spike, is a medium range, man-portable, fire and forget anti-tank missile. The Spike missile features a tandem warhead with a top-attack profile. In addition to the CCD-TV/IR seeker, a fiber optic datalink provides update of target while in-flight, real-time intelligence identifying friend and foes, battle damage assessment, pinpoint accuracy, and minimized collateral damage capabilities. The Spike (SPIKE-LR) missile still retains the fire and forget launch mode. In June 2004, EuroSpike GmbH, a joint venture between Diehl (40%), Rheinmetall (40%), and Rafael (20%), was created to support Spike family of anti-armor missiles sales to European customers. The SPIKE-LR anti-tank weapon system can operated by a crew of two man or installed on different ground platforms.
