Description

The Vulcano 155mm artillery projectile has been developed to meet the requirements of the Italian Army fired from its PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers. The Vulcano 155mm munition uses a combination of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Semi-Active Laser (SAL) guidance to achieve outstanding accuracy against time-critical targets. The Vulcano 155 is also available as an unguided ammunition with a maximum effective range of 80 kilometers (km). The new 155mm projectile was first test fired by a PzH 2000 in May 2014 at Alkantpan Proving Ground, South Africa.
